Gracefully ageing silver foxes – Aesthetics for men
Gone are the days where beauty tips, trends, products and aesthetician visits were deemed feminine and for-women- only.
When we think of gracefully ageing men, celebrities who are in their fifties and sixties that continue to look sharp, fresh-faced, and sophisticated come to mind. Many continue to have a youthful looking face and body despite greyish hair or lack thereof.
The taboo of male aesthetics has long been broken and today’s men between the age of 30-65 are getting more Botox than ever before.
The way injectables are used on men is different. They accentuate different aspects of a man’s appearance, maintaining a refreshed and youthful look, without losing any of the masculine features. Just a little jab here and there helps to erase fatigue lines and gives a lifting appearance.
The most common injectable used on men, is probably Botulinum toxin (Botox®). It has been used safely for several decades to treat the effects of ageing. Botox® is administered in extremely small concentrations into the targeted neuromuscular tissue via injections. It relaxes the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles by blocking signals from the nerve cells which control muscle contractions. this paralysing effect prevents fine lines from forming as well as allows existing wrinkles to be smoothened out.
Because of a man’s stronger muscles and thicker skin, one may need between 1.5 and 2 times the amount of Botulinum a woman would receive. Results are noticeable in just 3 to 5 days, and have been shown to last up to 4 to 6 months; but will vary from patient to patient depending on age, skin type, health condition and the course of treatments taken.
During treatment consultation, provide your doctor with any pertinent information on your medical history, pre-existing medical and health conditions, drug allergies, and medication and/or supplements you are currently taking.
Our doctor will discuss the options available to you, and design a personalised course of treatment for optimal results. A Botox® procedure usually only takes a few minutes.
